Beck loves the movie Shrek & Shrek always says “homie touches.” It is the part in the movie where they are trying to make a cave more comfortable haha. So when we bought our home with Homie, Eric & I would be saying Homie this & Homie that etc. Beck would always laugh & say we need Homie touches! And well he is right! What makes a house a home is homie touches! And what saves you money so that you can have more money to make your house a home is Homie!
Let me go into our home journey! Our home hunt was quite the journey. And so much time could have been saved if we would have started with Homie in the first place. We looked all over & just kinda felt all on our own. We had met with someone to get pre-approved but it was complicated with our self employment. Our realtor & loan officer went back & forth with us but weren’t talking to each other & it was very confusing & we weren’t getting anywhere. It was a month here a month there & not really no progress. We didn’t get any definite answers & we were just kind of hanging out until we could do our taxes months in the future so it would be easier for them to pre-approve us.
One day I started looking online at homes for sale in an entirely different city & came across one I liked. I wanted to go see it but our realtor helping us we had gone with because originally we wanted to build. So our realtor in the beginning was a builder too but didn’t really do other real estate and couldn’t help us in this new area we wanted to look in.
I had heard about Homie from billboards but didn’t know anyone personally that had used them. I wasn’t too sure how it would be but I figured well they could show us the house & we could go from there. Well we met with the realtor from Homie on a snowy night right after Christmas & she was SO NICE! We loved her right off the bat & she answered all our questions! We decided to go with Homie & the next morning we had a loan officer calling us!
My favorite part is that everyone is a team & everyone talks to each other! Our loan officer was helping us get the lowest interest rate & helping us with being self employed. And our realtor was answering all the questions we had about the home. Our interest rate we got was SO much lower than the other one we had been offered. Also the rate was through Homie loans which was also so convenient! Our loan officer & us chatted on the phone here & there & we never even had to go into an office to meet him. It was so easy to email back & forth with all our Homie contacts & sign papers online throughout the process. Before when we had been looking we went into the office all the time & never got anywhere. With Homie it was smooth sailing. We were able to close way faster with Homie than expected too!
I never knew how truly expensive it could be to buy a home. We saved for our down payment but then the closing costs etc were A LOT more than I thought they would be! I also wanted some things such as a table, barstools, washer & dryer etc. So since we saved $5,000 on closing costs with Homie we were able to buy those things we needed. I have been telling friends about Homie & how great it is & I knew I needed to share it here too! I still can’t believe that if you close with them & do financing through them- which was the lowest rate anyway that they give you $5000 off your closing costs.
Honestly to me it is a no brainer! If we move again – 10000% we will be using Homie to buy & sell! I will never pay the crazy commissions. I haven’t sold with Homie but the process is only $1500 & so I never would be using anyone else! I am so glad Homie helped us get into our home. I love our home sooo much & I am so excited to keep creating memories here. I am already so excited for our first Christmas- it is going to be so magical!
