New York- I love you!! My mom, sister & I went in April & it was just the BEST trip! Everything about New York is just magical & I can’t wait to go back. Eric has never been so I feel like we need to go again haha & let’s bring Beck while we are at it. But for reals having a real girls trip with no baby to worry about really was so nice! It was as relaxing as New York can be haha.. the city that never sleeps & slows down right? I have my broken ankle so sadly my boot had to come along & that was kinda the worst but not as bad as I thought it would be. I can’t believe I didn’t get a picture of my scooting all over haha. I brought my scooter but after a few days my knee was so rough & I had rug burn haha. So my sister Reagan would take turns riding the scooter when I needed to walk haha. But having my scooter helped us save a lot of time because people let me go to the front of the line! Saving 3 hours at the Statue of Liberty was the best! People were so nice about my leg – not so much just people on the street but all the workers wherever we went. I felt bad for my mom & sister that had to carry my suitcase & scooter down the stairs to the Subway haha. But we did it & it totally could have been worse! At the end of the day we were always so tired we would crash haha- my sister always kept her contacts in she was so tired haha! The 1st night we got there we went to bed at like 8 PM which was 6 PM Utah time- red eyes can be a little brutal haha.

Some of the highlights of the trip were:

  • The 9/11 museum- there is a picture above of a beautiful piece of art some 4th graders made when it happened. That hit home since I was in 4th grade when it happened. I have always loved watching 9/11 documentaries. I teared up a few times especially during the voice recordings people left for their spouses.
  • We had people try to take us somewhere sketchy for a knock off designer bag! Also the food markets in Chinatown are always the best. I had soupy dumplings I had been craving since I last went 6 years ago!
  • Oh here is something that made me mad haha! We ended up going to Chick fil-A because it was close by & this guy was there that was asking me if we had any leftovers. As we left we got him a sandwich & tried to give it to him & he just said oh just so you know next time I prefer nuggets… are you kidding me? I just said beggars can’t be choosers! I wish I also would have said there will never be a next time! But I was so put off he was asking for leftovers!!
  • We saw Phantom of the Opera & Hello Dolly! They were both so good! I think I liked Phantom a little more just because of amazing set, costumes and music- I have been listening to showtunes non stop haha.
  • We MET Tim Gunn!! He was so precious! We met him at the Met & he was waiting in the coat check line. It was so funny haha & he was so precious! We were by the coat check because my sister was getting a wheelchair to push me around in. It was so funny because she almost hit him while we were in line. My mom was brave & had us get a picture with him haha & he was so nice & felt so bad for my ankle & he was just so cute with us. Of course it was pouring rain & we just had stacked raincoats on haha. I’m pretty sure he looked down & my socks & shoes but hey I didn’t get any blisters. We also went to Mood so it was just a Project Runway trip!
  • We ate SO much! Some highlights were Dominique Ansel for cronuts, Levain for cookies, The Doughnut Plant, bagels, Magnolia cheesecake & so much more!
  • We LOVED the Top of the Rock! We also did Empire which was so iconic but I think if you can only do one go for the Top of the Rock so you can get a view of the Empire! I think the different levels & glass windows also made it better for pictures.
  • Before I broke my ankle the plan was to ride bikes in Central Park but it ended up being so cold that the carriage ride was nice! It was like the movie Enchanted! So fun & our driver knew where all the celebrities lived haha.
  • Going to the Statue of Liberty & Ellis island was also a blast even though it was chilly haha. I had to buy a hoodie when we got there. Also I couldn’t wear hardly any of my outfits since I mostly packed dresses.
  • I also thinkI am going to start collecting vintage looking postcards of places we go. These ones were so cute I couldn’t help myself.

New York City is full of fun murals, food, shows & SO much more! We had the best time! Now I need to make a Chatbooks of this trip so I can always remember it! This was Reagan (my sister) & I’s birthday present this year & it was so much better than some clothes & whatever other things I would have asked for. I am so glad my mom planned this memory filled vacation for us- we will always remember it! It was so fun to go with my sister for her 1st time- when we got off the subway the 1st time some man was pointing at my mom & saying she is the one over & over & my sister was like what is this place haha!

Until next time New York!
