Today I have some tips and tricks I am excited to share. I also wanted to share some modern outdoor planters I love that can be found on Amazon. And some cute and stylish doormats. 3 Flower Types to Focus On
My biggest tip in how to arrange a flower pot is to include a THRILLER, a FILLER and a SPILLER. Let me get into these and some examples!
Thriller- To me a thriller plant is one that stands tall and gets your attention. I love to do that with grasses, the unique red plant I have in my bigger pot etc. Last year in my pot I had some big tall grasses that had big balls on the end and they got so tall and really made a statement.
Filler- A filler is anything such as low flowers, herbs etc. A flower if big and tall I can be a thriller but in my case I used them as fillers. I don’t think the flowers in my stand out as a focal point but if they did then I would use them as a thriller. But usually thrillers are tall.
Spiller- Spillers are my favorite! By the end of last year my spillers were hanging on the ground of my porch and I loved the look. I love hanging plants that drip down indoors so same kinda thing! Potato vine which is in my big pot in both green and purple is my favorite. It will grow long and I love the colors! In my smaller pot as a spiller I used that sagey looking plant. The sage colored plant is already hanging a lot so you can see the idea of what it will look like.
More Tips on How to Arrange A Flower Pot
Stick to a color theme. I really liked this bright pink/purple and thought it would be fun to pick that. I chose this color because it stood out to me and is more unique than pink. It felt like something I wouldn’t see on everyone else’s porch.
Another tip- my pots right now look a little emptier than I would like. I had a big dahlia that I ended up planting on it’s own in that grey pot because it looked too squished. Soon these plants will grow and fill in the space so I don’t want them to look too crowded off the bat.
Something else I like to do is add an herb. I don’t have a garden yet at our house so it is fun to have an herb in there that I can pick from. Thyme is what I picked and it smells AMAZING! You can totally smell it when you are standing at the door so I am excited to see how many people notice and comment on it haha.
