Okay I have wanted to go to the Spiral Jetty for yeaarrsss!! We went last week and it was so cool! The Great Salt Lake was really low so none of it was in water- so we could see it perfectly! The Spiral Jetty is a rock sculpture that was created by Robert Smithson in 1970! It is crazy that it is almost 50 years old! I wish we had brought a drone with us to get some aerial shots but we didn’t plan on going here- the day just took us here. It was fun to explore & Beck loved all the sand. A giant sandbox! The Spiral Jetty is up in Northern Utah- West of Brigham City.

The reason that we ended up at the Spiral Jetty is because we spent the day at Promontory Summit! So don’t mind the below photo of the postcard picture we took there- it says Promontory Point. Okay so Eric & I both grew up in Utah & they totally teach that it is called Point not Summit. I didn’t even fact check it because it wasn’t something I was questioning- dumb I know haha. Well anyway Eric & I were excited to go here because we had never been & we both have some relations to the place. So… a few months ago Eric & I found out we have the same great great something grandpa! Crazy weird I know haha but he had multiple wives & we are from different wives so no stress! So Promontory Summit is where the last railroad spike was drove to make it possible for you to travel from the East to the West. It is also known as the Golden Spike! The man that is circled in this famous picture is our joint grandpa haha. Every Saturday they do reenactments and we knew Beck would love it! Oh did Beck love it! They have loud train whistles & smoke & they act it all out. It was a warm day & I didn’t put sunscreen on us all so we got kind of burnt. So bring sunscreen! There is also nothing out there so it would be nice to pack a lunch. It costs $10 to get in but we have the National America The Beautiful Pass- so we got in free. Totally not sponsored- but this is so worth it if you travel a lot! We paid $80 for a year pass & you can get into every National Park & Monument. Going to some of the National Parks cost $30+ to get in so we have well paid for ours & we still have six months left to use it.

So make it a day trip & go to both The Spiral Jetty & Promontory Point! We decided when we were at Promontory Point to head to The Spiral Jetty! It said it was an hour drive but we were already so close- (The Spiral Jetty is in the middle of nowhere!) So it says an hour on your GPS but it is really only a half hour at most. It is only 15 miles- but it is a dirt road. But when I say dirt road- it is very smooth & well traveled so no pot holes or rocks so you can go pretty fast on the road. Bring a lunch, sunscreen & water & have a fun filled day!
