March 2nd is Dr Seuss’ birthday! He would have been 113 this year! I have always loved Dr Seuss- I mean how can you not?! I think the Grinch is pretty much one of my all time favorites- I even decorate a Grinch corner at Christmas. Every year on Dr Seuss’ birthday it is National Read Across America Day! A lot of schools celebrate it but I wanted to celebrate it with Beck even though he is young! I decided to make the most of the day & of course read as many Dr Seuss books as I can! I couldn’t resist this shirt for Beck! I also found the cutest girl version too!

We made Cat in the Hat hats for a snack & Beck loved them! He would say uh-oh when they would fall apart haha. I loved that I could whip up a cute & healthy snack. I sliced apples, bananas & strawberries & the snack was done- a new favorite! It was also so fun to make green egg snacks! I thought these would be cute but I didn’t know how yummy they would be! So addictive & they were gone the next day! I bought some square pretzels & some bulk chocolate melts in the bulk section at Winco. Then I got some green M&M’s. I heat up the oven to 200 degrees & then put the chocolate on the pretzel & melted it for 5 minutes. Once the chocolate was soft I pulled it out & then quickly put the M&M in logo side down. I let it harden & that was it! SO easy! But watch out they really are addictive haha.

I had a blast making this fun photo prop- I just can’t handle all the whimsical things- I love it! I found some cardboard around the house & then I whipped out the paint. Beck with paint is a real fun mess haha yeah don’t mind the paint on my nails haha. We made this little craft with a favorite Horton Hears a Who quote that I have always loved! I also tried to teach Beck about how important every person is & how important it is to always be kind even though he is young.

The Target Dollar Section has a whole Dr. Seuss line right now & especially for a little older kids it is perfect! They have stickers, erasers, notepads etc. I got this fun little activity pad for Beck there & he loved putting stickers all over!

Of course the day wouldn’t be complete without reading reading reading! I need to get more Dr Seuss books for Beck! His favorite that we own is Oh the Places You’ll Go! Eric got the party edition when he graduated high school & I love it- I think that is so cute when people give that gift. I also love these other Dr Seuss books- One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, The Cat in the Hat, Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are?, Horton Hears a Who!, If I Ran the Zoo basically this list could go on & on!

So Happy Birthday to one of the greatest authors! In his own words:

In Katroo, every year, on the day you were born
They start the day right in the bright early morn
When the Birthday Honk-Honker hikes high up Mt. Zorn
and lets loose a big blast on the big Birthday Horn.
And the voice of the horn calls out loud as it plays:
“Wake up! For today is your Day of all Days!”
