I am so excited to share with you a fun adventure we recently went on! Goblin Valley State Park in Utah is one of our places that we love to explore. My husband grew up going there and we have been multiple times since we got married.

A while ago Eric my husband saw that there are yurts that you can rent to stat in Goblin Valley Utah. We had looked at them but they are often booked. But we randomly decided to look them up one day and there was a random opening for that week. Seriously no openings for a few weeks out so we had to go! My brother and sister in law came with us and it was a blast! They are also photographers and the ones that took these photos. They are Utah based but travel all the time- they are so talented! If you are interested in booking- here is the info!

Being in Goblin Valley makes you feel like you are exploring Mars! So the little rock formations look like little goblins – hence the name of the park! This is one of my favorite places to explore because you can just wander and climb and get lost. Of course we try to be careful but it is kind of fun that you can climb around. My son Beck who is four is obsessed with Goblin Valley. We only ever seem to go when it is really hot or really cold and he never seems to mind and never wants to leave. We love exploring National Parks but love how it isn’t busy here like it is there. And you kind of can just explore however you want and there aren’t really trails or anything to stay on. Goblin Valley isn’t somewhere you go to hike but there are some rock climbing areas that people love.

Goblin Valley is about 3 and a half hours from Salt Lake City. Only an hour and a half from Moab and a little over an hour from Capitol Reef National Park. There is a lot to do in the area. We love Moab and Arches National Park right outside Moab is my favorite park so far. So make Goblin Valley a stop on your trip or make it your trip and stop in Moab on the way back!

Something else that Goblin Valley is known for is the stars! They are unreal! We loved gazing out. It was so cool that in the yurt you could see the stars through the dome. You won’t have service there most likely so before you go be sure to download a stargazing app- it makes it more fun.

Speaking of the yurt- I realized that my full tour of this is on my tiktok- @mckenziecherrington – I don’t really have any inside photos. But it is pretty basic inside. A futon pull out, bunk beds and a table and 4 chairs. It fit 4 adults fine! And then there is a cozy stove that keeps you warm all night. Oh and if you go in the summer there is AC. On the porch there is a BBQ that is piped with propane that would be fun to use too. Oh and I should mention this might be hard to stay here if you are flying in. There is no bedding provided at the yurt. So we brought pillows, sleeping bags and blankets etc. You could maybe make it work and buy cheap stuff but just so you know!

All in all Goblin Valley is a place we love to explore and we will for sure be back to this yurt!
